2023: Sen. Ekwunife hosts Okpuno Landlords Association, assures more development projects



– stresses the importance of enthroning good leaders

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, has stated that development will be widely spread across the sectors of the economy when good leaders are enthroned by the electorate.

Senator Ekwunife who stated this in Awka on Friday, when she received in audience delegation of Okpuno Landlords Association, Okpuno, Awka South LGA, explained that Nigeria was presently facing plethora of challenges because of wrong selection of leaders.

The federal lawmaker commended Okpuno community for their massive support in 2019, adding that she would keep being a strong voice on the floor of the senate and also deliver visible representation to constituents.

Reacting to the appeal by the delegation of landlords, the Senator, while describing power as a critical driver of the economy, pledged to employ the instrumentality of legislation to attract a 500kva transformer to the area.

“Even though my primary responsibility as a lawmaker is to make law for peace, order and good governance, as a mother I truly understand your plight. I therefore want to assure you that I will reach out to the Minister of Power and EEDC, and liaise with them to address your electricity challenges.

In her remarks, the leader of the association and former Registrar of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Dr. Ora Okechukwu said that majority of the people are testifying in favour of the senator, saying that the quality of her representation makes it impossible for any aspirant to dislodge her come 2023.

Meanwhile, in a related development, a delegation of Ezinator Town Union also paid a courtesy call to Senator Ekwunife in recognition of her giant strides in the National Assembly.

Speaking during the visit, the PDP ward Chairman of Isiagu, Pharm Henry IIoh appreciated Ekwunife for her achievements, adding that she is the best Senator to represent the zone since the return of democracy in 1999.
