Tinubu Orders Security Agencies To Rescue Remaining Papiri School Hostages

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify operations to secure the release of the remaining students and teachers abducted from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State.

The President issued the directive on Monday while reacting to the rescue of 100 of the abducted students.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the security agencies for what he called their “steadfast efforts” since the November 21 abduction.

“I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work in ensuring the safe return of the students to their families,” the President said.

He assured the families of the remaining 115 students and staff still in captivity that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Niger State Government, is working round the clock to ensure their safe return.

“My directive to our security forces remains that all the students and other abducted Nigerians must be rescued and brought back home safely. We must account for all the victims,” Tinubu emphasised.

The President also said his administration is taking additional steps to strengthen the security of schools nationwide, stressing that learning centres must never again become easy targets for criminals.

“From now on, our security agencies, working with the governors, must prevent future kidnappings. Our children should no longer be sitting ducks for terrorists intent on disrupting their education and subjecting families to trauma,” he said.

Tinubu reaffirmed that protecting students and securing schools remain core priorities under his broader national security reforms.
