Leaders and residents of Amigbo, one of the seven villages in Nomeh-Unateze Community, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, have declared their full support for Governor Peter Mbah, citing ongoing infrastructural development in the area.
The endorsement was made during the community’s New Year cultural festival, Amigbo Day, held at the Community Primary School, Station Quarters, Nomeh.
The event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and cultural groups, including the Okanga Cultural Troupe from Owo.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Nomeh, retired Lieutenant Colonel Okonkwo Mbah, commended the state government for projects he described as unprecedented in the community’s history.
He listed the ongoing road construction, the Smart Green School and the Type II Primary Healthcare Centre as major interventions transforming the area.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media (External Relations), Uche Anichukwu, said Nomeh-Unateze had benefited significantly from the Mbah administration, citing the construction of the Nomeh–Mburubu–Nara Road, Nomeh–Uduma Road, Court Mburubu–Nkerefi Road, as well as the Smart School and healthcare centre.
Mr Anichukwu urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, saying the community had every reason to support the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also highlighted the appointment of indigenes of Nomeh to key positions in the state, including Prof. Ikenna Chukwu to the ESUT Governing Council and Mr Chijioke Okonkwo as Chairman of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Nomeh-Unateze Town Union, Dr Chukwudi Anyianuka, said the celebration reflected growing unity in the community and optimism that the ₦1.62 trillion 2026 budget would translate into more projects for the area, including a proposed farm estate.
Earlier, Chairman of the Amigbo Nomeh-Unateze Unity Association, Mr Emmanuel Ani, said the festival was organised to thank God for peace and preservation of lives, while also celebrating the governor’s performance and honouring indigenes who have contributed to community development.
The event concluded with the presentation of an Award of Recognition for Patriotic Service to Mr Anichukwu for his contributions to the community and Enugu State.
