Presidential hopeful in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has highlighted the rare concurrence of the Christian season of Lent and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in Nigeria, describing it as a “powerful symbol of shared sacrifice, reflection, and the possibility of national renewal.”

In a message shared on social media, Obi described the overlap as a “Double Fast,” noting that both seasons are traditionally marked by fasting, prayer, and thanksgiving, and urged Nigerians to rise above religious differences to embrace their shared humanity.

He encouraged citizens to use the period for reflection on national challenges, including insecurity and economic hardship, emphasizing that “prayer alone is not enough; it must be paired with action.” Obi stressed that charity, forgiveness, and self-discipline are essential for fostering national healing and unity.
