Easter: Bishop Godwin Madu calls for peace among citizens, enjoins leaders to emulate Christ’s humility and sacrifice

Christians have been admonished to live a life of sacrifice and love, in order to engender peaceful society devoid of hate.

The Chairman, Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) Enugu State Chapter, Bishop Godwin Madu, gave the advice in his Easter message to Nigerians entitled: “Call to all Christians.”

The CPFN leader noted that Christ paid the supreme sacrifice by offering Himself to die, as Paschal lamb, for the salvation of humanity.

He urged Christians to embrace the virtue of love as examplified in the life, suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

“I call on all Christians to intensify prayers and showcase christlike life practically.

“Let’s refrain from the world pattern of hatred of truth and false accusations because of selfish interest,” he appealed.

Bishop Madu enjoined all to pursue peace with all men, and always work for the good of others.

“Sacrifice your pleasure and comfort for someone’s redemption and peace. Let this Easter period, be an Easter with a huge practical difference,” Bishop Madu admonished.

He called on political leaders to be selfless and be humble in rendering services to the people.

“Let our politicians learn to lay down their lives and interests for the peace of our states, constituencies and Nigeria as a whole,” he advised.

The clergyman expressed concern about the disturbing security challenges in the land, cautioning against allowing it to go beyond control.

He appealed to the government to quickly address the problem from the root as well as address whatever matter fueling agitations in the country.
