Emmanuel Eze Emerges APGA Enugu North Senatorial Candidate

Chief Emmanuel Eze has emerged the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Senatorial candidate for Enugu North Senatorial Zone in Enugu State come 2023 General Election.

Eze, who is from Umuida community in Igbo-Eze North council area, was the sole contestant during the primary election held at APGA secretariat in Igbo-Eze North council area on Saturday as other aspirants stepped down for him.

Eze polled 150 votes out of 150 accredited votes cast by the party delegates in the senatorial zone.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Casmire Anyanwu, said that Eze having won the primary election, as stipulated by the electoral act, is now qualified to contest the 2023 General Election.

The APGA Chairman for Igbo-Eze North council area, Mr Samson Ogbaje, appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission observers, adding that with Eze as the APGA candidate, victory for the party was certain in Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

“God is with us and the people of Enugu North. We are going to restore the dreams of our founding fathers and make Enugu North Senatorial Zone the London in Enugu State,” Ogbaje.

Responding after being declared the winner, Eze said the party was going to a political battle and call for members to be ready, while pledging to run an inclusive administration if elected to represent the senatorial zone at the Senate.

“I am capable of correcting age-long wrongs and I have all it takes to do that. APGA also has all it takes to bring Federal presence to Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

“The power we seek is to put food on everybody’s table; power to give our people employment, power to secure our people and power to move Enugu North Senatorial Zone forward,” Eze said.

Eze would be contending with Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Zone Primary Election held on Tuesday, May 24.
