The Enugu State Government has dismissed as false an online report claiming that the National Boundary Commission (NBC) has ceded Ette community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area to Kogi State.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary of the Enugu State Boundary Committee, Solomon Ejim, the government said the NBC has not taken any decision on the long-standing boundary dispute between Enugu and Kogi states.

Mr Ejim described the report as “fake and misleading,” stressing that it did not originate from the commission.

He disclosed that the Director-General of the NBC had been contacted and had categorically denied authorising or issuing such a report.

According to the statement, the commission is yet to publish any report or resolution on the interstate boundary matter involving Ette community.

The Enugu State Government urged residents of Ette, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area and the state at large to disregard the report, describing it as the work of mischief makers.

It also called on the public to remain calm and continue their normal activities, assuring that no administrative decision has been taken to cede any Enugu community to Kogi State.
