The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 52 suspects, recovered firearms, ammunition, and rescued kidnapped victims in a series of operations conducted between January 24 and 30, 2026.

This was disclosed on Friday in the weekly crime statistics and operational report released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

According to the report, the arrests included three armed robbery suspects, 12 kidnapping suspects, and three individuals linked to homicide or murder.

The police also apprehended two suspects in connection with rape and defilement cases, four suspected cultists, and 28 others for various offences across the state.

The Command further recovered one firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, and six stolen vehicles. Three kidnapped victims were rescued during sustained intelligence-led operations.

Other items recovered included hard drugs and a significant quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, reflecting the intensified crackdown on drug-related crimes across the state.

SP Ndukwe attributed the operational success to the commitment of police personnel, enhanced intelligence gathering, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public.

He reassured residents of the police’s continued determination to sustain the fight against crime and maintain public safety in Enugu State, urging citizens to support law enforcement with timely and credible information to enhance proactive policing and rapid responses to criminal activities.
