The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Caleb Onyema Ani, has paid warm tribute to Chief (Dr.) Mrs Patricia Nwobodo, describing her as “a distinguished matriarch whose influence and quiet strength continue to shape public life across Enugu State and beyond.”

Patricia Nwobodo, the wife of Senator Jim Nwobodo, a former governor of old Anambra State and one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures of the post-civil war era, is widely regarded within the state as an anchor of stability and a respected voice in community development circles.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Enugu South chairman praised her “graceful but firm presence” in national life, noting that her contributions though often understated have left a clear mark on philanthropic and social initiatives across the region.

“Her Excellency has remained a figure of composure, empathy and principled leadership,” the statement read, emphasising her work supporting local charities, women’s groups and faith-based organisations. “She reflects the quiet resilience and civic responsibility that have long defined the Nwobodo family’s legacy.”

Although Patricia Nwobodo maintains a low public profile, associates frequently credit her with providing the structured calm that underpins her husband’s decades-long political career. Those close to her speak of a woman with an instinct for bridge-building, a commitment to community welfare, and a belief in public service that extends beyond formal titles.

As she marks her birthday, messages of goodwill have filtered in from political allies, community leaders and residents who describe her as “approachable,” “disarmingly gracious,” and “deeply invested in the wellbeing of ordinary people.”

“Her example is one of service quiet, consistent, and rooted in genuine care for others,” the Enugu South chairman added, expressing hopes that the year ahead would bring her continued health and fulfilment.

For many in Enugu, the tribute serves as both a celebration of a private individual and an acknowledgment of the often unseen labour behind public leadership an area in which Patricia Nwobodo has long been regarded as an influential, if understated, presence.
