Gunmen attack FRSC patrol team in Anambra, kill two personnel



A team of Patrol Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) comprising an Officer, a driver and two other staff on patrol operations have been attacked by unknown gunmen leading to the death of two personnel with one sustaining severe injuries.

A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer,Mr Bisi Kazeem, said the patrol team was conducting routine patrol operations on Sunday, along Igbo-Ukwu- Uga route in Anambra State when the armed men opened fire on them killing two of the Corps personnel with one escaping into the bush  while the team leader was rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries from the attack.

The statement explained that the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi who decried the attack, consoled with the families of the deceased staff.

He also sympathised with the Unit Commander, Staff of Igbo-Ukwu Command, the entire Management and Staff of the Corps over the loss, while praying their souls to rest in peace.

Oyeyemi also assures that the Corps is working with the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the wicked act were arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.
