Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has received the Excellence in Economic Modernisation award at the Nigerian Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS), recognising his administration’s transformative initiatives in just two and a half years.
The award ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa Conference Centre, Abuja, and was presented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The honour highlights Mbah’s reforms in infrastructure, economic policies, and modernisation programs that have positioned Enugu State as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing subnational economies.
The NEAPS Advisory Council said Governor Mbah stood out for his administration’s measurable achievements, innovative policies, and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, thanked the Advisory Council and dedicated the recognition to the people of Enugu State.
He said the award would motivate the government to continue implementing policies that expand economic opportunities across the state.
Governor Mbah described the award as a reaffirmation of the trust placed in his administration and pledged to accelerate development and deepen modernisation efforts.
The ceremony also featured opening remarks from Justice Mary Odili (Rtd), cultural performances, and an audience that included state governors, ministers, business leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps.
