INEC Enugu Fire Outbreak: Police Begin Investigation, Vow To Unravel Cause Of Incident

ENUGU– The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Abubakar Lawal, has ordered the State CID to conduct thorough investigation to establish the cause of the fire outbreak at INEC office in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Council Area, Ogrute.

According to a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe, “the fire commenced from the back of the building, and was put out by Police Operatives that swiftly mobilised to the scene on receipt of the information.

“With assistance from personnel of Nsukka Office of Enugu State Fire Service, thereby averting further damages within the vicinity.

Consequently, the CP, while assuring that the Command will do all it can to unravel the cause of the incident and take necessary action, urged residents of the area to support the Police with credible information in the ongoing investigation.

The release indicated that the area had been cordoned-off for preservation and further investigative actions.

The Council Area has come under attack recently by unknown gunmen leading the state government to impose 6pm to 6am curfew in both Igboeze North and Igboeze South Local Government Areas.

Heavy security personnel was consequently mobilized to the area to check the invasion and the battle has continued to linger.
