The Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province and the bishop of Enugu Diocese, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, has called on Nigerians to emulate Christ’s humility in rendering services to humanity.
Archbishop Chukwuma who stated this on Thursday in a telephone interview on the significance of Maundy Thursday service, insisted that love, forgiveness, sacrifice and humility remained the bedrock of Christianity.
At Saint Paul’s Chapel, Archbishop’s Court, Enugu, the wife of the former Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Nwanneka Ekweremmadu, who spoke to newsmen after a church service to mark Maundy Thursday, lamented the high rate of domestic violence in the society and urged the government to pay more attention to issues concerning women and children.
Dr. Ekweremmadu, also advised people in abusive marriages and relationships to save themselves first by taking a walk.

In a similar vein, a worshipper at the Bishop’s Court, Mrs. Amalachukwu Obika, reiterated that husbands who are the heads of the family should live out Christ’s virtues of love, which according to her is God’s standard of marriage.
The Holy Thursday church service featured washing of the feet of all the worshippers that attended the event.
