More than 20 indigent widows in Enugu State have received some empowerment packages.

The beneficiaries drawn from different segment of the society received cartons of noodles and cash gifts to boost their businesses and largely contribute to their homes.

The benefactor, Comrade Ndudi Chude, told newsmen that the gesture was part of his contribution to support people who were facing hardship.

“The inspiration came from my seeing people, especially the widows suffering, and I always go out for the indigent ones specifically, though I wouldn’t say I know them, but people scout for them for us.

“It’s an annual thing I do in support of the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to mark his birthday using”Obodobuigwe”programme in Radio Nigeria Coal City FM which I, Ndudi Chude anchor. I source for funds from my friends,” he explained.

Comrade Chude called for deliberate efforts by the government to initiate policies that would address poverty in the land,

He argued that poverty was one of the contributory factors to increase in crimes.

Comrade Chude encouraged the rich to remember the poor around them, as the duty of building a better society is a collective responsibility.

“If you are rich and people around you are poor, then you’re poor, spread out! let it go round, so that the richness will be for everybody other than you.

“So it’s my belief that a little drop of water can make an ocean,” he said.

Some of the beneficiaries including, Geraldine Udeh from Udi and Joy Abubakar from Edo State, commended Comrade Chude for the gesture.
