One person has been confirmed dead at the Onipepeye axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu highway in Ogun State when a bus had a head-on collision with a truck on Sunday.

Three persons also sustained injuries in the accident that involved a white Toyota Coaster bus marked AAB-686YJ and a white Man Diesel truck with no number plate.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident, blaming it on reckless driving on the part of the bus driver, who it said,

“Failed to comply and maintain a lane as traffic was already diverted.”

TRACE corps spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, explained that the bus driver’s recklessness at a traffic diversion spot made him lose control and he rammed the vehicle into the truck, resulting in the death of one person.

According to Akinbiyi, three men and one woman were involved in the road crash, saying that one of the three men died on the spot.

APROKOREPUBLIC learnt that two of the victims were taken to State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, adding the third victim was taken to another hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
