Peter Obi Donates ₦15m To Support Rural Health Centre In Enugu

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has donated an additional ₦15 million to support the completion and equipping of a primary health centre inAmafor, Ihuokpara, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The funds were handed to the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt Rev Prof Samuel Obiajulu Ike, who initiated the project to expand healthcare access in rural parts of the state.

Obi visited the bishop in Enugu before touring the facility, expressing satisfaction with the speed and quality of construction.

He noted that he had earlier donated ₦20 million towards the project and had committed to supporting it until completion.

“This is why I’m always happy to partner with the Church,” Obi said. “When I visited earlier this year, I made a promise to remain part of this work. I’m impressed that the building is already completed; elsewhere they might still be processing variations.”

He praised Bishop Ike for prioritising development in underserved communities, describing the health centre as a demonstration of “visionary leadership” and a model of how faith-based institutions can catalyse grassroots development.

Obi said the latest donation would assist in furnishing and equipping the centre with essential medical facilities.

He also reaffirmed his willingness to back similar initiatives across the country.

Public health expert Prof Benjamin Uzochukwu, who inspected the facility alongside Obi, welcomed the intervention and urged affluent Nigerians to emulate such contributions.

He said partnerships between philanthropists and faith-based organisations were vital for strengthening healthcare delivery and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.
