Police, Army Nab Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Tricycle in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, in collaboration with soldiers of the Nigerian Army, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen tricycle in Enugu State.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Mr Ndukwe said the suspects were arrested following a report received on 9 March at about 4:00 p.m. that a tricycle operator had been attacked and dispossessed of his vehicle along New Garriki area of Enugu.

According to him, the victim was attacked by two assailants, who used an offensive weapon before making away with the tricycle.

“Operatives of the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad, working in collaboration with a detachment of the Nigerian Army stationed in Awgu Local Government Area, immediately trailed the suspects,” he said.

He identified the suspects as Ejike Emewa, 21, and Njoku Christian Chigbo, 21.

“The suspects were subsequently arrested, and the stolen tricycle was recovered from them,” he added.

Mr Ndukwe said the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mamman Giwa, has commended the collaboration between the police and the army, noting that it contributed to the swift arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen property.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
