Saskay Criticises Matawalle For Celebrating Zamfara Governor’s Defection To APC

Reality TV star Saskay has criticised the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for celebrating the defection of the Zamfara State governor from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Dauda Lawal, who succeeded Matawalle as governor of Zamfara,
and his deputy Mani Mummuni quit the PDP on Monday, citing lingering litigation
and crisis within the party.

Lawal said the decision was a collective one by stakeholders
in the state, adding that he joined the APC to sustain the Zamfara rescue and
rebuild mission.

Reacting via X, Matawalle commended Lawal’s move, describing
it as “a historic moment” in the political history of the state.

He added that the defection would strengthen efforts to
tackle insecurity, advance the president’s agenda, and promote a more
prosperous Zamfara.

“Today marks a historic moment in the political history of
our state and our dear nation as we welcome a friend and brother, the Executive
Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency, @daudalawal_, into our great party,
the APC,” the post reads.

“Zamfara State now needs the collective commitment of all of
us to confront and address our challenges, especially the insecurity, while
working together to deliver the realization of the Renewed Hope agenda of
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Governor Dauda is now part of a progressive family.
Therefore, we warmly welcome him into this fold so that we can support him and
work together with all our strengths to ensure a more secure, safe, and
prosperous Zamfara State.”

In a post via X, Saskay tackled Matawalle for describing the
defection as a “historic moment”, arguing that the loss of Nigerian soldiers
fighting terrorism should be of greater concern.

The Adamawa-born reality star warned that citizens would
remember the government’s perceived lack of concern for the people if a
revolution ever begins.

“When the revolution starts, we will remember how little you
all cared about citizens!”

On Saturday, three Nigerian soldiers were killed in a gun
battle that reportedly left 45 suspected bandits dead in Danmusa LGA of Katsina
