Mrs Helen Alonge a survivor of poliomyelitis as a child has come out to say doctors advised her mother to kill her when she became paralyzed at age 8.

The civil servant and masters student in Theater and media Arts shared her story with Tobin Aworinde in an interview.

According to her she wasn’t born physically challenged. It was when she was 8 years, exactly on the day of her birthday that the incident occured. She had been woken up the sound of signing and clapping by her sisters for her birthday when she discovered she couldn’t stand up.

She was taken to the hospital where a doctor advised her mum to inject her (euthanise) her but luckily she refused.
