In furtherance of her unyielding resolve to continue to activate her legislative sagacity to advocate for policies geared towards quality and quantitative education, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, has called upon government at all levels to prioritize education in the country.

Ekwunife, who spoke on Monday, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu, during the pastoral visit/launching of Administrative Classroom Block explained that Nigerian leaders should emulate the first prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew and chart a progressive path towards prosperity by investing and reforming the education sector to mirror the 21st century standard.

According to the senator, education is essential for the growth and development of the society and children are the future of the society.

While commending the Catholic Diocese of Awka for their effort in the development of the education sector, the federal lawmaker informed the bishop to nominate a student from the poorest of the poor background to be trained under her scholarship scheme from primary to university education.

Senator Ekwunife who is also the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation further pledged to assist in the building of the St. Albert The Great Administration Block Classroom

“If not because of education I will not stand here as your senator, my beloved mother of blessed memory had 11 daughters and it was because of the proper education and excellent morals she instilled in us that we are successful today”, she stated.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Francis Chidume spoke highly of Ekwunife’s accomplishments in the National Assembly.
