Tinubu Hosts Sultan Of Sokoto, Top Islamic Leaders At Ramadan Iftar In Abuja

Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted the Sa’ad Abubakar III, Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, alongside other traditional and religious leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The gathering was an interfaith breaking of fast (iftar) organized for religious and traditional leaders across the country, underscoring themes of unity during the fasting period.

In his address, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s economy and building a better future for coming generations.

He highlighted that his reforms had rescued the nation from the brink of bankruptcy and placed the economy on a solid foundation, despite initial hardships.

“At least, this government has saved Nigeria from going bankrupt. We are now shifting our focus to health, agriculture and education,” Tinubu stated.

The Sultan of Sokoto, represented by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahya Abubakar, spoke on the significance of the coinciding fasting periods across different faiths, describing it as a call for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

He expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration is capable of addressing the country’s insecurity challenges and pledged the loyalty and support of traditional rulers to the president.

The event reflects ongoing engagements between the presidency and key religious and traditional figures amid broader efforts to foster national cohesion and tackle pressing socio-economic and security issues.
