The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, yesterday, launched a renewed crackdown on insecurity, announcing a ₦5 million reward for credible intelligence leading to the arrest of kidnappers operating in the council.

A high-level security summit, held behind closed doors, brought together senior security stakeholders, including the Enugu State Commissioner of Police represented by the DC Operations, Itobore Gregory, the CSO to the Governor, the Udenu Area Commander, the DPO Obollo Afor, and presidents-general of select town unions.

Delivering the Commissioner’s message, the DC Operations issued a strong warning to criminal elements to vacate Udenu and the state, assuring residents of the Police Command’s commitment to restoring peace.

The Chairman of the council, Aka Eze Aka said the bounty was aimed at encouraging community-led intelligence sharing, stressing that the fight against insecurity must be collective.

He unveiled a dedicated hotline: 08076045030 for reporting credible information.

In a related move, the Chairman announced a shake-up in his security advisory team. Hon. Hillary Egbeigwe, formerly SSA on Security, has been reassigned to Transport, while Mr. Godwin Chukwuma Ogbuagu has been appointed SSA on Security.

Sources said the summit reviewed existing strategies and adopted new measures to strengthen surveillance, deepen inter-community collaboration, and enhance rapid response capacity.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and support ongoing efforts to stamp out criminal activities in Udenu.
