We Will Block Food Supply To South-West Until Fulanis Are Safe – Miyetti Allah

Published

on

Coordinator of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah Association of Cattle Breeders, Aliyu Mohammed, has said that the blockage of cattle and foodstuffs to the South West through Kwara State will continue until the safety of Fulani is guaranteed in the region.

Speaking to DAILY POST shortly after a crucial meeting of the association in Ilorin on Sunday, Mohammed, said the action is a warning shot to ensure a peaceful operation of businesses by the Fulani and to end the harassment of the tribe in the south.

He debunked allegations levelled against the Fulani, claiming that not all of them were criminals, adding “Just as you have in any society where there are good and bad people.”

Mohammed insisted that “It is not only Fulanis that commit crimes in the country, but it was sad that everything happening now is heaped on Fulani herdsmen.”

The coordinator said the association was ready to fish out the bad eggs in their midst.

According to him, “We have concluded at our meeting today that anybody who comes to Kwara State claiming to be Fulani herder under questionable circumstances, will be reported to the security agencies for necessary action.

“Our vigilantes will monitor the bush and the forests where there are no security agencies and report suspected cattle rustlers who disguise as cattle herders to perpetrate crimes,” he added.

Mohammed appealed to the Federal government to arrest Sunday Igboho, who evicted the Fulani from Igangan in Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State, for the alleged destruction of their properties and killing of their people.

Why I Am Shocked And Saddened Over Killing In Chad – President Buhari

Published

on

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he is shocked and saddened in the wake of the ethnic clashes in the South Eastern Region of Salamat, Chad that claimed several lives.

Recall that ethnic tension in the central African country of Chad left at least 55 people dead and more than 40 injured as three villages were burned to the ground.

The clashes in the south-eastern region of Salamat erupted between different ethnic groups on Wednesday night in the villages around the provincial capital of Am Timan, according to Salamat governor Abel Yamabaye Massira.

However, Buhari extended heartfelt condolences to President Idriss Deby Itno of Chad over the incident.

“I am shocked and saddened by the incident that shattered decades of relative peace and stability in Chad,” Buhari said.

He added that “ethnic and tribal clashes is a threat to African unity and stability and Nigeria joins the rest of Africa to deplore the latest eruption of violence in Chad.”

The president underscored the need for African leaders and people to manage their diversity with tolerance and understanding.

He noted that “a threat to stability in one part of Africa is a threat to the rest of us.”

According to Buhari “given Africa’s economic and social challenges, we cannot afford mutual destruction that makes our challenges more complicated.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari also commiserates with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the government and people of Egypt over the train accident in Northern Cairo that killed dozens of people and injured 98 others.
