Yuletide: Police Reaffirm Ban On Fireworks In Enugu

Enugu State Police Command has reaffirmed the ban on the sale and unauthorised use of fireworks across the state during the yuletide season and beyond.

The directive, conveyed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, is aimed at preventing criminals from exploiting fireworks, reducing public panic, and safeguarding lives and property.

The statement warned individuals and businesses against selling or using fireworks, noting that offenders would be prosecuted under the law. Parents and guardians were also urged to caution their children against purchasing or handling fireworks.

In addition, the police advised residents to avoid bush burning during the harmattan season, describing it as a highly risky activity capable of triggering large-scale fires.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and called on residents to cooperate fully with enforcement measures throughout the festive period.
