2027: APC Vows To Sack PDP In Enugu
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has decried what he called high taxation in Enugu State, especially against the poor masses.
The APC national chairman vowed that APC will displace the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government in the state in 2027.
Ganduje spoke at Akama-Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, when he led the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and other prominent members of the party to officially receive the member representing Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, and the entire Labour Party structure in the constituency into the APC, at the weekend.
With his defection, Umeha, the former LP lawmaker, is the first elected political office holder to be produced by APC in Enugu State since the inception of the party in 2014.

Those who defected with him included; Hon Dennis Amadi, former member of House of Representatives (Udi/Ezeagu, 2015-2023), and Enugu West senatorial candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections; Hon Emma Ogbozo, LP House of Assembly candidate, Udi North constituency; Barr Chibuzor Onyema, LP House of Assembly candidate, Udi South; as well as the entire LP executives in the 40 Wards and two local government areas of Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency.
Speaking at the reception, Ganduje, who was represented by Chief Emma Eneukwu, APC Deputy National Chairman, South, declared that the party will take over the governance of Enugu state in 2027 boasting that the current (PDP)-led government is in its last term.
He said, “APC is the transformer giving light to Nigeria, even the governor (Peter Mbah) himself, governor of Enugu state himself is running around begging to know if he will join APC, but we say fa, fa, fa…foul! I’m telling all the Labour Party members, the person that asked me to come here is the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.
“He said I should tell Hon Cyriacus Umeha, Hon Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi, and all those that joined APC with them, including Hon Emma Ogbozo my friend, that you have made the right decision. You will not be disappointed.
“You see that man that is governing Enugu now (Peter Mbah), he has ended his reign, I can tell you reliably that he has finished his one term; the way he came is the same way he will go. So you have taken the right decision because you have connected yourself to the national grid, light never goes off from the national grid. So you’re welcome to APC.
“We have a new governor in us, what he is doing is just waiting, he is waiting for 2027 to assume his position as the governor of Enugu state and we know his capacity; that is when people will enjoy good governance.
“The taxation they are using to kill the poor people will no longer be there, there will be considerable taxation and not taxing people to kill them. So, all the people that joined APC from the Labour Party are lucky people. I’m standing behind my leader, Hon Minister Uche Nnaji, who I’m following to the government House legitimately, I don’t want to go illegitimately there and all of us will enter there in 2027 in Jesus name, Amen!”
In his remarks, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji while commending the defectors for joining the APC, expressed disappointment that Enugu state government recently invited “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come and commission uncompleted projects in the state”.
“I know that our people are suffering, the huge allocation that accrues to the state is not being used to work for the people. What they do is make belief; they go to newspapers and electronic media and are advertising what they did not do and claiming they have done it.
“Enugu is the first state in which a serving president commissioned an uncompleted project. How can they trick our father, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they deceived him and took him to GTC (Government Technical College) and showed him video and showed him an uncompleted house in the name of smart school and told him that this represents 30 of the smart schools that had been completed in Enugu state.
“And we know that at the time in question it was only one smart school that was done in Enugu state, and it is in Owo (governor’s community), the former settlement in Owo, the settlement for farmers that came into Enugu from Ezza (Ebonyi state) to come and do farm work and they started settling there and all of a sudden they started answering Nkanu people, they are not Nkanu people, they are still Ezza people, they are still Abakaliki people”.
The state chairman of the party, Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, said the defection of Umeha and collapse of LP structure in Udi and Ezeagu local government area would have a profound effect in Enugu state politics, stating that Udi/Ezeagu, otherwise known as Agbaja people are the heartbeat of Wawa people (people of old Enugu state including present day Ebonyi), while Enugu state is the heartbeat of South East.

He blamed the crisis in Labour Party on the failure of leadership at the national level by its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi and similarly the failure of leadership by the governorship candidate of the party in Enugu state, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga, who he said, abandoned the party to defect to PDP that allegedly robbed him of his mandate.
He said Hon Umeha had demonstrated courage and leadership and with Hon Dennis Amadi, his predecessor in the House of Reps who was also the Enugu West senatorial candidate of LP in 2023, now joining forces with the APC, the entire Enugu West had been garrisoned against other parties ahead of 2027 general election.
Earlier in his speech, Hon Umeha, stated that with his defection and that of others with him, the entire structure of Labour Party in his constituency, Udi/Ezeagu had formerly shifted to APC in the state.
“Today is a remarkable day to align Enugu at the centre. If you come to South East we have five states; Enugu is the capital of South Eastern states, therefore, can the first be the last? Can the first son of the family be the last son? We are the first in the South East and what it means is that we should be at the forefront and be at the centre which is Abuja.
“We are supposed to be at the epicenter of national politics, we are supposed to be at the centre where decisions concerning Nigeria are being taken; so our journey to reconnect Enugu State Park to the administration at the federal level begins today because today is being marked official defection by way of ceremony, the first time APC is having elected member of National Assembly in the APC Enugu state.”
He said his defection was preceded by widespread consultation and endorsement of his constituents hence they all followed him to APC.

Obumneme Obodougo, Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State in the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission;
Engr. Dr. Lois Nwobodo, Director of Science Equipment Development Institute (SEDI) Akwuke, Enugu; Chief O’Brian Ofordu, former General Manager, Enugu Water Corporation; and several other party leaders and faithful.

Senator Uche Ekwunife Secures ANSAA Out-of-Home Campaign Permit Ahead of 2027 Election (See Pictures)
Yesterday, APC Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, officially obtained the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) Out-of-Home Political Campaign Permit ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The permit, issued in preparation for the election scheduled for January 16, 2027, was presented on behalf of ANSAA by the Assistant General Manager and Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Ngobili Chika (ARPA), to Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON.
The approval authorizes the APC Senatorial Candidate to commence the lawful deployment of approved out-of-home political campaign materials across the Anambra Central Senatorial District, in line with the agency’s regulations and guidelines.
The permitted campaign materials include posters, banners, branded vehicles, public address systems, flyers, campaign T-shirts, street storm materials, rally branding, and other approved political publicity materials.
The development underscores the importance of conducting political campaigns within the framework of existing laws and regulatory requirements as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
ANSAA, as the state agency responsible for regulating signage and outdoor advertising.
With the permit secured, Senator Uche Ekwunife’s campaign team can now proceed with the deployment of approved outdoor campaign materials across Anambra Central in accordance with ANSAA regulations.

The Anambra Central APC Senatorial Candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, has arrived Adazi-Ani in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State for the grand coronation ceremony of His Royal Majesty, Dr. Chinedu Benson Madubuko, OFR, as Eze Chinechendo I of Adazi-Ani.
The grand royal ceremony is being held today, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Adazi-Ani Town Hall, Community High School, Adazi, and is organised by the Adazi-Ani Town Union (ATU).
The coronation formally marks the installation and celebration of Dr. Chinedu Benson Madubuko, OFR, as the traditional ruler of Adazi-Ani, in an event that has attracted prominent traditional rulers, political leaders, community leaders, dignitaries, friends and well-wishers from within and outside the community.
Senator Ekwunife’s arrival further adds colour to the historic gathering, as she joins other distinguished guests and stakeholders to celebrate the new monarch and the people of Adazi-Ani.
The occasion is expected to feature cultural displays, goodwill messages and other activities celebrating the rich heritage and unity of the Adazi-Ani community.
The grand coronation continues to draw attention as members of the community and invited guests gather to witness the historic royal event.

AWKA — Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, has celebrated Dame Ezinwa Jane Onyewelu, JP, on the occasion of her 70th birthday, describing her as “a beautiful woman in and out” and a shining testimony of God’s enduring grace.
Ekwunife made the remarks at a colourful reception held at the Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre in Awka to mark the milestone birthday of the respected celebrant.
The Senator noted that attaining the age of 70 is a remarkable privilege that calls for gratitude to God, stressing that such a milestone should not be taken for granted.
“Seventy years can only be attained by God’s grace. It is not something we should take for granted. Today, we are here to celebrate a beautiful woman, a beautiful soul and a life that has touched many people in different ways,” Ekwunife said.
The former federal lawmaker also commended the family members, friends and caregivers who have continued to surround Dame Ezinwa with love, care and support.
According to her, the dedication and commitment shown by those caring for the celebrant are a reflection of the kind of person Dame Ezinwa has been to the people around her.
“To all those taking care of her, God will bless you. Thank you for honouring this beautiful soul, for loving her and for making sure that she continues to enjoy the blessings that come with this stage of life.”
Ekwunife further prayed for God’s continued protection, good health and abundant blessings upon the celebrant, while wishing her many more fruitful and fulfilling years.
She said the 70th birthday should not merely be seen as a celebration of age, but as a celebration of God’s faithfulness throughout Dame Ezinwa’s journey.

After Oko Hostel Tragedy, Sen. Uche Ekwunife Calls for Tougher Building Safety Enforcement (See details)
The Most Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic collapse of a student hostel in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, which claimed lives and left several others injured.
In a statement issued following the incident, Senator Ekwunife extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, describing the loss of lives as a painful tragedy for the bereaved families, the Oko community, and Anambra State as a whole.
She also expressed concern for those who survived the collapse and are currently receiving medical treatment, praying for their quick and complete recovery.
